I aim to redefine oncology—merging cutting-edge tools with compassionate care to improve outcomes for all patients. I am committed to elevating the quality of oncology care by integrating advanced AI tools to enhance treatment outcomes, ensure equity, and bring a more human touch to every patient interaction. I want to build this community as a place for sharing my thoughts on these topics, healthy leadership and professional growth (go team!) as well as an occasional “What I’m Reading” or bad dad jokes.
As an oncologist and executive clinical leader with over 20 years of experience, I am driven by a passion to end cancer as we know it for everyone. As the Executive Medical Director of the Yung Family Cancer Center, I lead clinical operations, strategic planning, and the expansion of comprehensive cancer programs at St. Elizabeth Healthcare. My leadership experience has included planning, constructing, and fundraising for two state-of-the-art cancer centers, as well as recruiting and supporting over 40 new oncology providers across five cancer centers.
I serve as the Editor-in-Chief of AI in Precision Oncology, the first peer-reviewed journal dedicated to exploring the integration of AI in cancer care, fostering innovation, and advancing knowledge. As an active Executive Board member of the American Cancer Society and the Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC), I contribute to advocacy, education, and innovation within the cancer community. I serve as the Chair of the Healthcare Arm for the Cincinnati AI Catalyst (CaiC), an initiative dedicated to exploring, developing, and implementing AI-driven innovations that advance healthcare in the Cincinnati region. The team focuses on inclusive, responsible, and human-centered AI applications to improve healthcare accessibility, enhance patient outcomes, and optimize healthcare operations. Our mission is to position Cincinnati as a leader in AI-powered healthcare innovation.
To accelerate the integration of artificial intelligence into oncology, I co-founded Tensor Black, Inc., a management consulting firm specializing in guiding stakeholders through the complexities of oncology AI adoption. We offer tailored, high-impact solutions that bridge cutting-edge technology with clinical practice. With deep expertise in oncology workflows, regulatory landscapes, and AI capabilities, we empower hospital systems, biopharma companies, diagnostics firms, and investors to achieve measurable outcomes. Through a network of subject-matter experts and a client-centered approach, Tensor Black delivers actionable insights, scalable strategies, and transformative results. Agile, focused, and deeply specialized, we are dedicated to driving innovation and improving cancer care globally.
I am so glad to have you here, and promise to try and make this a real community for all of us. Let’s have some fun, and maybe learn something together!
Doug
